'I am sorry if....': PM Modi's Message to Mahakumbh Devotees

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, concluded with a spectacular display of devotion and unity. Reflecting on the event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described it as a “Maha Yagya of unity” and extended his gratitude to the devotees. He also expressed that he was sorry for any difficulties they may have encountered during their pilgrimage.

Taking to X, PM Modi shared his thoughts on the festival, stating, “For 45 days, the faith of 140 crore Indians converged at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj. The experience has been truly overwhelming! I have penned down my reflections on this grand event.”

He further remarked, “When a nation awakens, sheds the remnants of a colonial mindset, and embraces a renewed consciousness, a remarkable transformation takes place. This was evident at the Maha Kumbh of unity in Prayagraj, which began on January 13.”

Grand Finale with Fireworks and Devotional Fervor

The 45-day-long Maha Kumbh Mela came to an end on Wednesday with an awe-inspiring fireworks display over the sacred waters of the Sangam—the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. A laser light show accompanied the fireworks, creating a mesmerizing visual spectacle.

This year’s Maha Kumbh, recognized as the world’s largest religious gathering, concluded on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivratri.

    Record-Breaking Participation

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath shared on social media that over 66.21 crore devotees participated in the sacred ritual bath at the Triveni Sangam during the festival. Between January 13 and February 26, people from across India and abroad—including political leaders, sports personalities, business tycoons, and Bollywood celebrities—visited Prayagraj to take part in this spiritual tradition.

    Unprecedented Security and Infrastructure

The grand religious fair witnessed a high level of security, featuring AI-powered surveillance, anti-drone systems, and a well-coordinated monitoring network. To accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims, the Mahakumbh Nagar was designated as Uttar Pradesh’s 76th district for the event. Spanning 40 hectares, it remained active around the clock, hosting religious and cultural activities over the six-week-long festival.

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 not only reinforced India’s deep-rooted spiritual traditions but also showcased the country’s ability to manage a religious gathering of this scale with seamless organization and devotion.
