Important Update: 2 New Rules for Sharing Your Amazon Prime Video Account with Family

Important Update: 2 New Rules for Sharing Your Amazon Prime Video Account with Family

Amazon Prime Video is set to implement updated rules for account sharing, which will come into effect in January 2025. While the changes aim to tighten device limits, they are not as strict as Netflix’s recent crackdown on password sharing.

Currently, Prime subscribers can log in to their accounts on up to 10 devices, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and TVs. However, starting next year, this limit will be reduced to five devices per account. Out of these five, only two can be televisions. Once a third TV is logged in, users will be prompted to sign out of another device before continuing.

According to Amazon’s updated policy, Prime members will still have access to Prime Video on up to five devices as part of their membership benefits. The revised terms specify that no more than two of these devices can be TVs. Subscribers can manage their registered devices in the Settings menu or purchase an additional Prime membership if they need access on more devices.

The new rules also introduce restrictions on device management. Subscribers will be allowed to remove and replace up to two devices within a 30-day period. This feature helps users swap out older devices with new ones but limits frequent changes, ensuring better security and control over device registrations.

Amazon Prime plans in India remain affordable, with options starting at Rs 299 per month, Rs 599 for three months, and Rs 1499 annually. Additional plans include the Prime Lite plan at Rs 799 per year and the Prime Shopping Edition for Rs 399 annually.

Despite the changes, Prime Video will continue to offer ad-free streaming and access to premium content, ensuring members can still enjoy their favourite shows and movies across multiple devices while staying within the new limits.
