Israel Launches E-Visa System for Indian Travellers to Simplify Travel and Promote Tourism

The Israel Ministry of Tourism (IMOT) has introduced a new digital e-Visa system for Indian travellers, making it easier to visit Israel starting January 2025. This modernised process eliminates the need for physical documents, offering a faster, more convenient, and entirely online application experience. The initiative reflects Israel’s commitment to improving travel accessibility and strengthening its ties with India, a key market for its tourism sector.

    Simplified Application Process

With the launch of the e-Visa platform, planning a trip to Israel has become simpler and more efficient. Travellers can submit their applications anytime and from anywhere via the official government portal. The process requires minimal paperwork and has been tailored to suit individual travellers. However, group visa applications will still follow the previous system.

The new e-Visa system integrates Israel’s Entry Travel Authorization (ETA) technology, enabling quick approvals and smooth processing. It offers a secure and user-friendly platform, ensuring compliance with strict security standards to protect applicant data.

Boosting Tourism Between India and Israel

India has always been a key market for Israel’s tourism industry. In 2018, around 70,800 Indian travellers visited Israel. While travel numbers dropped during the pandemic, they began to recover with 30,900 Indian tourists visiting in 2022 and increasing to 41,800 in 2023. Between January and October 2024, approximately 8,500 Indians had already travelled to Israel.

This steady growth highlights India’s importance as a tourist source, and the e-Visa is expected to further increase interest among Indian travellers. According to IMOT representatives, the digital visa process aims to make Israel a more attractive and accessible destination for Indian tourists.

    Plans for Future Expansion

Although the e-Visa program currently focuses on Indian travellers, IMOT plans to extend this system to visitors from other countries in the future. This expansion is expected to strengthen Israel’s position as a modern and welcoming travel destination globally.

The launch of the e-Visa system marks a major milestone in Israel’s efforts to boost tourism. With a simplified and hassle-free application process, more travellers are likely to choose Israel for their next trip. Applications for e-Visas can be submitted through the official government portal at gov.il, ensuring a smooth experience for those eager to explore Israel’s rich culture and history.
