The government is trying to bring electric vehicles at the forefront with all sorts of measures. The EV makers are facing reduced charges and subsidies so that they could develop new vehicles which could ultimately replace the cars and bikes which run on fossil fuels.
Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors has witnessed success with the Nexon EV in India, and their electric vehicle lineup continues to expand. The upcoming Harrier EV, unveiled at this year’s Auto Expo, is anticipated to launch in the latter part of 2024, boasting an impressive range of 500km.
Tata Punch EV
The Tata Punch, a top-selling model, is currently available with a petrol engine and an optional CNG variant. The next step is the electrification of this popular vehicle, as evidenced by recent sightings of the electric Punch during testing. Although specific specifications are pending, Tata is likely to reveal details soon, potentially launching the EV version as early as 2024.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
Maruti Suzuki’s inaugural all-electric vehicle, the eVX, jointly developed with Toyota, made its debut at this year’s Auto Expo. Recently featured at the Japan Auto Show and spotted during testing, the close-to-production model is anticipated to be launched by Maruti Suzuki around late 2024. Upon release, it is set to rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV in the market.

In 2024, watch for the launch of the electric variant of the XUV700, named the XUV.e8. This model is projected to feature an 80kWh battery pack, with two motors, each propelling a respective axle.
Volkswagen ID.4
Volkswagen is intensifying its EV offerings and is poised to introduce the ID.4 in India around 2024. According to online reports, the ID.4 is anticipated to share the same 77kWh battery pack as the Skoda Enyaq, driving two motors.
Citroen eC3 Aircross
Following the Citroen eC3 debut, the French automaker is set to unveil the all-electric eC3 Aircross, featuring a larger battery pack than the eC3’s 29.2kWh. Mirroring the C3 Aircross, the electric variant is anticipated to come in both 5 and 7-seater configurations upon its launch in 2024.
