Top 10 Horror Movies on Netflix in 2025

Top 10 Horror Movies on Netflix in 2025

Looking for something scary to watch tonight? Netflix has some really good horror movies right now that’ll keep you up at night. I’ve put together a list of ten films that actually deliver the chills without relying on cheap jump scares.

    1. His House (2020)

This one hit me hard. It’s about a refugee couple from South Sudan trying to start fresh in England, but their new home has something sinister living in the walls. What makes it special is how it uses horror to talk about trauma and guilt. The scares feel earned, not forced.

    2. The Platform (2019)

Imagine waking up in a prison where food comes down on a platform from above. The people on top floors eat first, and whatever’s left goes to those below. It’s disturbing and makes you think about inequality while keeping you on edge the whole time.

    3. Apostle (2018)

Dan Stevens plays a man who sneaks onto a remote island to rescue his sister from a cult. Things get really dark and violent. If you like folk horror with beautiful cinematography and don’t mind some brutal scenes, this one’s for you.

    4. Fear Street Trilogy (2021)

Netflix dropped three movies based on R.L. Stine’s books, and they’re actually fun. Each film takes place in a different time period but tells one connected story about a town cursed for centuries. Perfect for a weekend binge.

    5. Cam (2018)

This thriller follows a camgirl who discovers someone has stolen her identity online and is streaming as her. It’s creepy in a modern way that feels very real. The movie respects its main character and doesn’t judge her profession, which is refreshing.

    6. Hush (2016)

A deaf writer lives alone in the woods when a masked killer shows up. The lack of sound creates such intense tension. It’s a simple concept done incredibly well, and you’ll be holding your breath through most of it.

    7. Gerald’s Game (2017)

Based on Stephen King’s novel, this movie proves you don’t need a big cast or fancy effects to scare people. A woman gets handcuffed to a bed during a romantic getaway, and then things go horribly wrong. It’s claustrophobic and psychological.

    8. The Ritual (2017)

Four friends take a hiking trip in Sweden to honor their dead friend, but they take a shortcut through the forest and encounter something ancient. The creature design alone makes this worth watching.

    9. In the Tall Grass (2019)

Another Stephen King adaptation about people who hear a boy crying from a field of tall grass. Once they go in to help, they can’t find their way out. It messes with your head in the best way.

    10. Umma (2022)

Sandra Oh stars in this Korean-American horror film about a woman haunted by her mother’s spirit. It explores family trauma and cultural identity through horror, making it both scary and meaningful.

These movies offer different types of scares, from supernatural terror to psychological dread. Whether you want something deep or just need a good fright, there’s something here for every horror fan.
