In December 2022, Katherine Waterston and John Cho joined the cast. By February 2023, Greg Hill and Lukita Maxwell were also reported to be part of the cast, followed by the additions of Riki Lindhome and Havana Rose Liu. Principal photography began in Los Angeles in December 2022. They Listen is scheduled for release in the United States on August 30, 2024, having originally been slated for August 25, 2023.
