The plot of Netflix series The Railway Men follows the Bhopal Gas Tragedy that occurred on the night of December 2, 1984, when methyl isocyanate gas leaked from a pesticide factory owned by the American company, Union Carbide Corporation. The disaster tragically poisoned over half a million people that night, resulting in an official death toll of more than 5,000.
