    The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is set to begin on February 7 with India and Sri Lanka jointly hosting the global cricket event. A total of 20 teams will compete across 55 matches until the final on March 8.

    Defending champions India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav after Rohit Sharma stepped away from T20 captaincy. Several top teams like England, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa will aim to challenge India for the trophy.

    T20 World Cup 2026 Tournament Overview

    This is the 10th edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and one of the biggest cricket events in recent years. Matches will be played across major venues in India and Sri Lanka, including Mumbai, Delhi, Colombo, and Pallekele.

    The tournament follows a multi-stage format including group matches, Super 8 rounds, semifinals, and the final. Teams are divided into four groups of five based on ICC T20 rankings.

    Defending champions India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav, who replaced Rohit Sharma as captain after he retired from the T20 format.

    The cohosts, alongside England and the West Indies, will be aiming to become the first country to win three T20 World Cup trophies.

    Group A includes India, Pakistan, the Netherlands, the USA, and Namibia. Group B features Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Oman.

    Group C has England, the West Indies, Scotland, Nepal, and Italy. Group D consists of New Zealand, South Africa, Afghanistan, Canada, and the UAE.

    Tournament Format Explained

    The group stage runs from February 7 to February 25, where each team plays four matches. The top two teams from each group qualify for the Super 8 round.

    The Super 8 stage will run from late February to early March, followed by semifinals on March 6 and 7. The final match will be played on March 8.
