Paatal Lok Season 2 released on Amazon Prime Video on 17 January 2025. The show made a comeback after almost five years. The first season of the web series was released on 17 May 2020. What happened in Paatal Lok Season 2?
Hathiram Chaudhary (Jaideep Ahlawat) is no longer an important officer in the Delhi Police. After the events of Season 1, he has been moved to a lower position and now works under Imran Ansari (Ishwak Singh), who is rising in his career. While Ansari gets to handle important cases, Hathiram is given small cases, like finding the missing husband of a woman named Gita Paswan from the poor Jamna Paar slums.
At the same time, a big murder happens. Jonathan Thom, a respected leader from the Naga community, is killed just before the Nagaland Business Summit. The police begin an investigation, and the case takes many unexpected turns. A nightclub owner, Dhruv Mallik, becomes a suspect because one of his club hostesses, Rose Lizu, is connected to the murder. It is unclear whether Rose and Thom had a deeper relationship than anyone knew.

Meanwhile, back at home, Hathiram’s wife, Renu (Gul Panag), wants to open a tuition centre now that their son Siddharth has gone to a hostel. Gita Paswan’s son, Guddu, is left alone after losing both his parents. Renu is hesitant but finally agrees to take care of him. Guddu is deeply traumatised, and his pain is shown in heartbreaking ways.
Hathiram and Ansari’s relationship also becomes tense. Hathiram is jealous of Ansari’s success and feels left behind. Their journey takes them to Dimapur in Nagaland, where they meet SP Meghna Barua (Tilotama Shome) and Inspector Isaac. As they attend Thom’s funeral, they learn more about Naga culture, its history, and the struggles of the people fighting for their rights.
As the season progresses, secrets about Thom’s murder come out. Rich and powerful people seem to control everything, while the poor continue to suffer. The show highlights the gap between the privileged and the helpless, making it more than just a crime thriller.
