The mythological action drama Kantara: Chapter 1 is creating havoc at the box office. Directed by Rishab Shetty, the film was released on October 2, 2025, and within just nine days, it has earned over ₹350 crore at the domestic box office. It has already broken the records of all other Indian films released in 2025 so far. However, it is yet to surpass the worldwide collections of Chhava and Saiyara. The movie has now broken records previously held by Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan.
Kantara Chapter 1 breaks Jailer and Ghajini records
According to Sacnilk, Kantara: Chapter 1 has collected ₹369.04 crore in nine days. It has surpassed Rajinikanth’s Jailer (₹348.55 crore) and also beaten the lifetime collection of Sanju (₹342.57 crore), which starred Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The Hindi version of Kantara: Chapter 1 alone has earned ₹115.75 crore, breaking Aamir Khan’s Ghajini record (₹114 crore lifetime). The next targets for the film are Aamir Khan’s Dangal (₹387.88 crore) and Robert Downey Jr.’s Avengers: Endgame (₹373.05 crore).

A powerful opening
Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 had a thunderous start, collecting ₹61.85 crore on its opening day. On the following days, it earned ₹45.4 crore on Friday, ₹55 crore on Saturday, and ₹63 crore on Sunday. During the weekdays, the film collected ₹31.5 crore on Monday, ₹34.25 crore on Tuesday, ₹25.25 crore on Wednesday, ₹21.15 crore on Thursday, ₹22.35 crore on Friday, and ₹9.29 crore on Saturday. So far, the total collection of Kantara: Chapter 1 stands at an impressive ₹369.04 crore.
