Indian Railways to Launch ‘Super App’ Soon! Book Tickets, Track Trains, and Order Food All in One App - Details Inside

The Indian Railways is set to launch an all-in-one mobile application by the end of December, consolidating various passenger services into a single platform, officials reveal. The upcoming app, developed by CRIS, will allow users to book tickets, buy platform passes, and track train schedules, all in one place. It will work alongside IRCTC’s existing systems, as integration between the super app and IRCTC is underway.

Currently, passengers rely on multiple apps, such as IRCTC Rail Connect for ticket booking, IRCTC eCatering Food on Track for meal orders, Rail Madad for feedback, UTS for unreserved tickets, and the National Train Enquiry System for tracking trains. IRCTC Rail Connect, which holds exclusive rights for reserved ticket bookings, has over 100 million downloads, making it the most popular railway app.

IRCTC sees the new super app as an additional revenue source and is upgrading its technical infrastructure to improve service. Third-party booking platforms also rely on IRCTC for reservations, reinforcing its stronghold in online ticket sales. In the fiscal year 2023-24, IRCTC reported a net profit of Rs 1,111.26 crore, with ticket sales contributing 30.33% of its Rs 4,270.18 crore revenue from over 453 million bookings.

CRIS continues to play a crucial role in developing and managing essential software systems for the railways. Meanwhile, the UTS app, focused on platform tickets and season passes, has also surpassed 10 million downloads.
