Henley has released its latest rankings showing the status of passports across the world, and India has made a remarkable improvement in the Henley Passport Index 2025. India has jumped four spots to secure the 76th position, allowing visa-free access to 58 destinations. Previously, India was ranked 80th on the list. Now, Indian passport holders can enter 58 countries without a visa.
While India has improved, the position of the United States has declined. The U.S. passport has dropped to the 10th spot, sharing the rank with Iceland and Lithuania. This marks the lowest ranking for the U.S. in the last two decades, mainly due to a reduction in visa-free mobility for American citizens. On the other hand, Indians now enjoy stronger global access.
Singapore Tops the List
Singapore has once again secured the top position with visa-free access to 193 destinations, making it the most powerful passport in the world. It is followed by Japan and South Korea, sharing the second spot with visa-free entry to 190 destinations.
Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain are jointly placed in the third position, offering visa-free access to 189 destinations. Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Norway, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Portugal rank fourth with 188 destinations, while Switzerland, New Zealand, and Greece hold the fifth spot with 187 destinations.
