JioHotstar has become a monthly habit for many households, whether it is for cricket, new web series or the latest South Indian films on OTT. But once the big tournament ends or the show you subscribed for is over, the auto-renewal keeps running quietly in the background. With prices revised in January 2026, a forgotten renewal can cost more than expected.
The good news is that stopping it takes less than two minutes. To cancel your JioHotstar subscription, open the app, tap My Space, select your current plan and tap Cancel. This stops auto-renewal, and you can keep watching until your plan ends. If you paid through Google Play, the App Store or a UPI app like PhonePe or Google Pay, you may also need to cancel the auto-pay there.

First, Check How You Paid for JioHotstar
The right way to cancel depends on where your payment comes from. Most people who get charged after “cancelling” missed this step.

How to Cancel JioHotstar Subscription in the App
- Open the JioHotstar app and make sure you are logged in with the same number you used to subscribe.
- Tap My Space at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap your current plan name at the top.
- Tap Cancel, shown below your plan’s validity date.
- JioHotstar will show you an offer to stay. Scroll down and choose the option to continue cancelling.
- Confirm by tapping Cancel Auto Renewal.
You will see a message saying your plan will not be auto-renewed, but you can watch until the end of the plan validity.

How to Cancel JioHotstar on the Website
- Go to the JioHotstar website and log in with your registered mobile number.
- Click your profile icon and open your subscription details.
- Click Cancel next to your active plan and confirm.
If you do not see a Cancel option, your subscription is billed through Google Play or Apple. Use the steps below instead.
How to Stop JioHotstar Auto-Pay in UPI Apps
If you paid with UPI and agreed to auto-pay, a UPI mandate is set up in your payment app. Cancelling in JioHotstar should stop renewals, but removing the mandate as well is the safest way to make sure no money is taken. Menu names can change slightly with app updates.
Google Pay
- Open Google Pay and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Autopay.
- Select the JioHotstar mandate and tap Cancel Autopay.
PhonePe
- Open PhonePe and tap your profile picture.
- Go to Payment Settings and open Autopay.
- Select JioHotstar and tap Delete or Cancel.
Paytm
- Open Paytm and search for Automatic Payments, or find it in your profile settings.
- Select the JioHotstar subscription.
- Tap Cancel and confirm with your UPI PIN if asked.
Bank apps such as SBI YONO, HDFC and ICICI iMobile also show active UPI mandates under their UPI or Autopay section, if you set it up there.

- Open the Play Store and tap your profile picture.
- Tap Payments and subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Select JioHotstar and tap Cancel subscription.
How to Cancel JioHotstar on iPhone
- Open Settings and tap your name at the top.

What Happens After You Cancel?
- You can keep watching until your current plan expires.
- JioHotstar does not give refunds for the unused part of a plan.
- Your watchlist and viewing history stay saved if you subscribe again later.
- After expiry, you can still log in and browse, but premium shows, movies and live sports will need an active plan.
The best time to cancel is a day or two before your renewal date. You still get the full period you paid for, and there is enough time for the cancellation to go through.

Charged After Cancelling? Do This
- Check the payment source. Make sure the auto-pay was cancelled in the same place it was set up, such as Google Play, Apple or your UPI app.
- Check for a second account. Sometimes the plan is active on a different mobile number or email.
- Contact JioHotstar support from the Help and Support section in the app with your payment details and transaction ID.
- For UPI charges you did not approve, you can also raise a complaint in your UPI app or with your bank.
