Review Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ | 4/5
“Dhadak 2 leaves you broken but satisfied at the same time.”
‘Dhadak 2’, directed by Shazia Iqbal, is a sensitive film that talks about caste discrimination in India. The movie tells the story of Nilesh Ahirwar (played by Siddhant Chaturvedi), who comes from a Dalit family in Bhopal, and Vidhi (played by Triptii Dimri), a girl from an upper-caste family. They fall in love, but society and family traditions create many problems for them.
Story and Direction
The beginning of the film is strong. It shows Nilesh’s struggles and his dream to study law. Vidhi’s character is also bold; she does not fear social rules. Their love story faces strict opposition from Vidhi’s family, which adds tension to the film.
The first half of the movie is very engaging. The screenplay and emotions feel real and connect with the audience. However, in the second half, the story slows down and becomes a bit weak. The climax turns into a typical Bollywood ending, which reduces the realistic impact.
Acting
Siddhant Chaturvedi gives an excellent performance. He shows the pain, hope, and strength of a Dalit boy very honestly. Triptii Dimri is also good as Vidhi, but in many scenes Siddhant stands out more. Actor Saurabh Sachdeva, though in a small role, leaves a strong impression.
Music and Technical Aspects
The cinematography and background score are good. However, the songs are not very memorable. The editing could have been tighter as the movie feels a bit long, and the climax becomes more like a lecture.
Conclusion
‘Dhadak 2’ is an important film because it talks about caste issues that are often ignored in mainstream cinema. Even though the second half is weak and the climax is less effective, Shazia Iqbal’s direction and the lead actors’ performances make the film worth watching. If you like movies on social issues, this one is for you.
