What happens when four ordinary friends make one desperate choice? Chaar Yaar tries to answer that. Prime Video released the trailer on October 16, and the series premieres on October 23, 2026. It streams in Hindi across India and more than 240 countries and territories.
What Is the Story?
The show is set in the streets of early 2000s Mumbai. Jay, Tony, Saahil, and Sameer are middle-class friends with big dreams and not enough money. Their plans fall apart when a desperate choice pulls them into a world of heists, gangsters, and car thefts.
According to the trailer, the friends plan a theft to escape poverty. By mistake, they steal an expensive antique car and hide it. The news spreads from police stations to big car theft gangs, and soon everyone is looking for them.
They end up caught between ruthless underworld dons and Inspector Sumati Bhalerao. The official note says the friends must survive closing walls and unraveling plans while protecting the bond that started it all.
The Four Friends
The cast spoke about their characters, and each one sounds different.
| Actor | Character | What We Know |
|---|---|---|
| Prayrak Mehta | Jay | A man of few words who always has a plan. His friends turn to him when things go wrong. |
| Saqib Ayub | Tony | An ordinary Bombay boy, a change from the flamboyant roles he played before. |
| Purav Jha | Saahil | Jha calls this his first major release as an actor, after The Traitors. |
| Naman Jain | Sameer | Someone who finds humour even when everything goes wrong. |
Mehta said Jay changes so much that at times it felt like playing three different people. Ayub, who has done action in Farzi, Bambai Meri Jaan, and Undekhi, said the car chases and large-scale sequences brought a different kind of energy. Jain said the four of them built a natural bond off-screen, and the banter made the shoot more fun.
The Wider Cast
Sai Tamhankar, Sikandar Kher, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang, Chunky Panday and Bhagavathi Perumal play pivotal roles. That is a strong mix of known faces for a series built around four mostly newer leads.
What Does the Trailer Show?
The trailer runs 2 minutes and 19 seconds, and it promises fast action, thrills, and friendship. The trailer is well cut but says the pace is quick enough that you may lose the thread if you look away. It also feels the trailer shows a lot of the story. That is worth knowing if you like to go in fresh.
Who Made It?
Vinay Waikul directs the series, and he also created it along with S. Hussain Zaidi, Sambit Mishra, and Saurabh Sawant. Mishra and Sawant wrote it. Pranati Nagarsheth, Niraj Nagarsheth, and P.S. Shyam produced it under Pink Window Production Pvt. Ltd., and it is developed by BBC Studios India.
Waikul described the idea simply. He said it is about the uncertainty of life and the thrill of exploring it, and that when life happens to four friends, only their bond can pull them out of something much bigger than they imagined.

Should You Watch It?
If you like heist stories with a funny side, this looks like a good pick. The best part of the pitch is that the crime is not the heart of the story. The friendship is. The mix of car chases, gangsters, and silly moments can feel like a roller coaster, and eight episodes are easy to finish.
Since it is a busy week for new releases, you may want a few more picks. Manoj Bajpayee’s Gajab Raat follows a cop torn between money and morals.
If you like teasers, the Suryaa teaser has Sunny Deol taking on the medical system, and the Akka teaser review covers Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in a gangster saga. For something different, the Sumo Didi trailer tells the story of India’s first female sumo wrestler.
Chaar Yaar premieres exclusively on Prime Video on October 23, 2026.
