Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan, is all set to begin work on his long-cherished dream project Mahabharat. The actor recently confirmed that he will start working on the series from August 2025.
Just days ago, the first look of Ramayana featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi created massive excitement among fans. Now, Aamir’s announcement about starting Mahabharat has generated a fresh wave of anticipation. In a recent conversation, Aamir shared details about the early planning of the project.
Not Just a Film, But a Full Series
Aamir revealed that Mahabharat is too vast and complex to be captured in a single film. Hence, he plans to turn it into a multi-film series, allowing every layer of the epic and each character to be explored in depth. He said this project is very close to his heart and he intends to approach it with utmost care and responsibility.
“I’m starting work on it in August. As you know, Mahabharat is a massive and challenging story. It runs in my blood—I feel compelled to tell it. And now, I’m finally ready to begin,” Aamir stated.
Experimenting with Casting
When asked whether he would play a role like Arjun or Krishna himself, Aamir surprised everyone with his answer. He revealed that he won’t cast any big or popular names in the series. Instead, he plans to bring in fresh, unknown faces because he believes the characters of Mahabharat should be the real stars. This will also give the audience a sense of freshness and authenticity.
A Dream in the Making
Aamir has been dreaming of bringing Mahabharat to the screen for years. He believes this will be one of Indian cinema’s biggest and most ambitious projects. Multiple directors are expected to collaborate on the series. While Aamir is currently enjoying the success of his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par, his full focus is now shifting towards Mahabharat.
