    Delhi University Reopening: Everything You Need To Know

    The wait is over! Recently, Delhi Disaster Management Authority gave the nod to reopen higher educational institutions in the national capital. Subsequently, Yogesh Singh, vice-chancellor of Delhi University, stated that Delhi University would open on the upcoming days within a short time.

    Delhi University has planned to open in a phased manner. The university will share the schedule of the offline classes and other details shortly. The authority hasn’t shared any date yet.

    Yogesh Singh has also said they will formulate a strategy to reopen the varsity. Additionally, he said they would act accordingly if the DDMA allows 100 percent capacity. They have also decided to give time to students to shift from their homes to the university.

    If DU reopens hostels, it has to be done following safety protocols. There might be confilcts, which are as follows: 



    Yesterday, groups of students protested outside the office of VC. They demanded that the campus be opened as soon as possible. The Students Federation of India(SFI) and the All India Students Association (AISA) organized the protest. Over 400 students participated in the demonstration.

    They plan to continue their strike until the administration notices the reopening. Additionally, a written assurance from the administration will also serve the purpose.

    On Monday, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) units submitted a memorandum to various DU colleges. They’ll conduct a sit-in protest today against the DU administration.

    Summary Of The DDMA Meeting




    States across India are reopening schools and colleges. The DDMA announcements, too, came shortly after covid cases started dipping. A meeting was conducted by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led government. Following that, they held a Covid-19 review meeting. Subsequently, the announcements came on February 4.

    Many schools and colleges have resumed classes from yesterday, February 7. 

    Other Universities Also On The Same Path

    Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) issued orders regarding the resumption of offline classes. Additionally, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University has also started offline courses.
