Netflix’s Polish drama The Mothers of Penguins, also known as Matki pingwinów, has left viewers with a lot to think about. Season 2 ended on a tense note, and a few big storylines are still hanging. The big question now is simple: will there be a Season 3?
Is The Mothers of Penguins Season 3 confirmed?
Not yet. Netflix has not announced a renewal. If the show does come back, one estimate suggests it could stream in the second half of 2027, but only if the decision comes quickly. For now, that is a guess, so treat it with care.
Where did Season 2 leave the story?
The second season picks up one year after the first. Kama, Ula, Jerzy and Tatiana, four friends who bonded while raising children with disabilities, open a school called Happiness Pole. It is meant to teach children with special needs and those without. Iga joins them as the school therapist.
By the finale, things fall apart. Kama retires from her MMA career because of health risks, which shocks everyone. Tatiana develops feelings for Iga. Jerzy is juggling a lot, including care for his mother and daughter, along with his relationship with Robert.
Then comes the biggest blow. Ula is asked to step down as principal, and she takes it as betrayal. She announces plans to open her own school, and many parents pull their children out of Happiness Pole. The school suddenly loses most of its students.

What could happen in Season 3?
The most obvious storyline is a direct clash between Kama and Ula. Ula is said to be teaming up with Jola on her new school, which could make the pair tough competition. Kama, meanwhile, has to save Happiness Pole from financial trouble. She now runs a martial arts centre for the kids, which is a nice touch, but it may not be enough to bring the families back.
Tatiana and Jerzy will also have strong feelings about Ula’s choice, so the friend group could split in a painful way. Iga could play a big part too, given how many children at the school deal with mental health struggles. But she has hinted that she wants to leave, so her future is unclear.
Other threads are also waiting to be tied up. Ula ended a secret affair, but not very firmly, which suggests the story is not over. Kama might return to MMA despite her health. Tatiana may explore her own desires more freely. And Kama could reunite with Paweł and build a family with him, Mia and Jaś.
Who might return?
If the show continues, most of the main cast should come back. That includes Masza Wagrocka as Kama, Barbara Wypych as Ula, Magdalena Różczka as Tatiana and Tomasz Tyndyk as Jerzy. Karol Bernacki, Maciej Miszczak and Piotr Rogucki could return as Robert, Maks and Grzesiek. Mateusz Damięcki and Tola Hołub, who play Paweł and Mia, may also be back. We could also see new students and new staff at both schools.
What should you do now?
If you are a fan, the best thing is to watch and talk about the show. Netflix often looks at viewership and buzz when deciding on renewals. Until an announcement comes, all of this is just educated guesswork, but it is fun guesswork.
