Love triangles are nothing new in Indian streaming content, but Ishqa Ishqa seems determined to push that familiar setup somewhere considerably darker. Prime Video has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming MX Original, and it wastes no time establishing that this isn’t a story about choosing between two people; it’s a story about how easily love can curdle into control.
What the Trailer Reveals
Written by Rajesh Bachchani and directed by Amit Kumar Jha, Ishqa Ishqa follows Kabir, a rising author played by Satyajeet Dubey, who finds himself caught between two very different women and two very different kinds of love.
Arohi, played by Helly Shah, loves him with an intensity that leaves little room for distance, doubt, or choice. Suhani, played by Anushka Kaushik, offers him something Kabir has clearly been missing for a while: stability, trust, and genuine emotional clarity.
The trailer builds its tension by constantly contrasting these two relationships, Arohi’s possessive hold on Kabir against the calm Suhani brings into his life. As their emotional conflict develops, it stops feeling like a simple love triangle and starts looking more like a psychological game, one where Kabir’s own sense of identity as a writer gets pulled apart in the process.
Why This Premise Stands Out
What makes Ishqa Ishqa genuinely interesting is how directly it interrogates the line between being loved and being possessed. According to Amogh Dusad, Director and Head of AVOD Content at Prime Video India, the series explores what happens when love becomes intertwined with obsession, control, and the fear of letting go, built around characters constantly pulled between chaos and calm.
That tension is really the engine driving the entire show. Rather than treating Arohi as simply the “obsessive ex” archetype, the series seems intent on giving her genuine complexity, someone capable of real vulnerability as well as real danger.
What the Cast Is Saying
Helly Shah described Arohi as someone who sees little difference between love and possession, someone who doesn’t believe in halfway emotions. She called the character intelligent, strategic and deeply emotional, which is exactly what makes her unpredictable, someone capable of shifting between vulnerability and something far more dangerous.
Satyajeet Dubey spoke about Kabir’s arc as someone sensitive, caught in a situation that becomes increasingly difficult to escape. While Suhani offers him peace, Arohi’s presence keeps pulling him back into the intensity that’s shaped both his relationship and his writing identity. According to Dubey, Kabir’s real journey is about finding a way through a situation that seems to have no easy exit.
Anushka Kaushik described Suhani as grounded and emotionally aware, someone who believes love should come with trust and space. She noted that Suhani’s quiet strength becomes increasingly important as the story unfolds, even though the character initially appears far simpler than she actually is.
Where and When to Watch
Ishqa Ishqa begins streaming on October 7, 2026, available for free on Prime Video and the MX Player Android app, now rebranded as MX Player by Prime Video.
Should You Watch It?
If you’re drawn to romantic thrillers that genuinely interrogate what love can curdle into when control and fear enter the picture, Ishqa Ishqa looks like a solid pick. With three leads clearly putting real thought into their characters’ psychology rather than playing stock archetypes, the show seems set up to deliver something messier and more unsettling than a typical love triangle drama.
While you’re building out your October watchlist, there’s more worth checking out too. Ben Affleck’s Animals also dropped its teaser and trailer recently, bringing a completely different kind of tension to the table, and if Malayalam thrillers are more your speed, Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar’s OTT release date is also worth a look this month.
Ishqa Ishqa premieres on Prime Video and MX Player by Prime Video on October 7, 2026.
