Alpha OTT Release Date - When and Where to Watch Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Starrer Spy Thriller Online

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha is reportedly getting ready for its digital release after its theatrical run. The action thriller arrived in cinemas on July 3, 2026, and is now expected to make its OTT debut soon.

According to reports, Alpha could start streaming on Netflix on August 28, 2026. If the reported date is correct, the film will reach the streaming platform around eight weeks after its theatrical release.

However, viewers should keep one thing in mind. Netflix and Yash Raj Films have not officially confirmed the August 28 OTT release date at the time of writing. The reported date comes from media reports, so fans should wait for an official announcement before treating it as final.

    Will Alpha Stream in Hindi?

The reported OTT release is expected to begin with the Hindi version of the movie. Information about dubbed versions is still limited.

There is currently no confirmed date for Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, or other language versions. Netflix could reveal more information about the available languages closer to the digital premiere.

For viewers who missed Alpha in theatres, the reported Netflix release could be a convenient chance to watch the film from home.

Alpha OTT Release Date and Platform

    What Is Alpha About?

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha follows two women working as spies in the world of the YRF Spy Universe. Alia Bhatt plays Sita, a highly trained R&AW operative, while Sharvari plays Durga, another skilled operative who becomes connected to Sita during a dangerous mission.

The story mixes espionage, action, and revenge. A major part of the conflict revolves around Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, played by Bobby Deol, whose experiments involving the Alpha serum become important to the story.

The film takes the franchise in a new direction by putting two female spies at the centre of the action. Their missions, personal struggles, and growing connection form the main part of the story.

Alpha Cast: Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Bobby Deol

The movie has a strong cast led by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. Alia plays Sita, while Sharvari takes on the role of Durga.

Bobby Deol plays Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat, the main antagonist connected to the film’s central conflict. Anil Kapoor appears as R&AW chief Vikrant Kaul.

The movie also has a special connection to the wider YRF Spy Universe through Hrithik Roshan, who appears as Major Kabir Dhaliwal. His presence gives the film another link to the established spy characters.

Alpha and the YRF Spy Universe

Alpha is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe, which began with Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger in 2012.

The franchise later expanded with Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and War 2. Over the years, the universe has brought together popular spy characters played by Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Hrithik Roshan.

With Alpha, Yash Raj Films introduced a female-led story to the franchise. The film puts Alia’s and Sharvari’s characters at the centre while still connecting their story to the larger spy world.

Take a look at how much the Alpha movie budget and cast salaries were.

Alpha Theatrical Release and Box Office Performance

Alpha was released in theatres on July 3, 2026. Despite being promoted as an important addition to the YRF Spy Universe, the movie reportedly had a modest theatrical run.

According to the figures provided by Sacnilk, the film earned around ₹58.86 crore in India net. Its reported India gross collection was about ₹70.05 crore, while the worldwide gross stood at approximately ₹99.10 crore.

The film’s performance was affected by mixed-to-negative audience and critic reactions. Some viewers praised the action and performances, while others raised concerns about the writing, screenplay, and execution.

The movie also saw a noticeable fall in weekday collections. Competition from other releases, including Dhamaal 4, reportedly added pressure to its theatrical run.

Why Alpha Is Important for Alia Bhatt and Sharvari

One of the biggest talking points around Alpha is its female-led approach. Instead of keeping women spies in supporting roles, the film puts Sita and Durga at the centre of a major action story.

For Alia Bhatt, the role also marks another move into a large-scale action and spy franchise. Sharvari, meanwhile, gets an important role alongside an established star, giving her character a major place in the YRF Spy Universe.

Their performances and chemistry are expected to remain a key talking point when the movie reaches streaming.

Will Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Return in Future Spy Universe Films?

The ending of Alpha reportedly leaves room for Sita and Durga to continue their stories in the wider YRF Spy Universe. This has naturally led to speculation about their possible appearances in future franchise movies.

There have been reports that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari could return in upcoming projects connected to the universe. However, their future appearances have not been officially confirmed so far.

If the characters return, they could potentially become regular parts of the interconnected spy franchise alongside its existing stars.

When Can You Watch Alpha on OTT?

Based on the latest reports, Alpha is expected to stream on Netflix from August 28, 2026. The reported digital release would come roughly eight weeks after the film’s theatrical debut.

Still, since Netflix and Yash Raj Films have not officially confirmed the date, viewers should consider August 28 a reported release date rather than a confirmed one.

For fans of Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, and the YRF Spy Universe, the reported Netflix release will offer another opportunity to experience the action thriller after its theatrical run.
