I, Nobody Release Date and Trailer Breakdown: Why Prithviraj’s New Crime Thriller Is Generating Massive Buzz

I Nobody Release Date and Trailer Breakdown: Why Prithviraj's New Crime Thriller Is Generating Massive Buzz

I, Nobody dropped its trailer on June 18, and the response was immediate. A heist crime thriller directed by Nissam Basheer — the man behind the critically acclaimed psychological thriller Rorschach — starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Parvathy Thiruvothu in their first pairing since 2018, with a premise that refuses to tell you exactly who to trust. That combination was always going to generate serious anticipation.

The film releases in cinemas worldwide on July 9, 2026, with the Telugu version following on July 10.

What the I, Nobody Trailer Shows

The trailer opens with an immediate statement of intent.

Rajeevan, played by Prithviraj, is surrounded by men who are threatening him, demanding a share of the wealth he has accumulated through years of criminal activity. His response — offering to surrender everything — is delivered with a quiet menace that makes it clear this isn’t generosity. It’s a warning.

Within seconds the tone is established. This is a man who has been here before. Who knows how these situations work. And who is far more dangerous than he appears on the surface.

The shift comes quickly. Police arrive at Rajeevan’s home to question him about a suspected money laundering case. His building residents have already been complaining about him — he has beaten up the security guard in the elevator, apparently more than once.

When the police warn him to change his ways, his response is delivered with a half-smile that stays with you long after the scene ends: “Can’t help it, sir. My ways have always been a bit reckless.”

What makes the trailer work isn’t the action or the criminal elements — it’s what lies underneath. Rajeevan isn’t concerned about being investigated. He isn’t worried about his associates being arrested or his office being raided. The one thing that genuinely frightens him is the threat bleeding into his home and reaching his family.

Parvathy Thiruvothu Adds Real Emotional Weight

The scenes between Prithviraj and Parvathy Thiruvothu, who plays his wife Meera, are the most quietly powerful in the trailer.

When Meera is told directly — in front of her husband — that she knows he is a criminal, the look on her face says everything. She doesn’t deny it. She asks him why he isn’t denying it either. Rajeevan has no answer.

Her priority, stated plainly, is her children. Not him. Not his explanations. Her children.

That dynamic — a man who genuinely loves his family but has built his life on choices that now threaten everything he loves — gives the film an emotional core that lifts it well above a straightforward crime thriller.

A Creative Approach to the Credits

The trailer does something unusual and genuinely clever with its credits. Every technical crew member — the editor, the cinematographer, the director — is introduced simply as “a nobody.” It’s a playful meta-moment that ties directly into the film’s title while quietly announcing the confidence of the creative team behind it.

Nissam Basheer, however, is very much somebody. His 2022 Mammootty film Rorschach was a critical and commercial success that demonstrated a rare ability to build and sustain psychological tension across a full runtime. I, Nobody looks like the next step in that direction — broader in scale, but equally focused on the internal logic of its characters.

    Cast and Production Details

Beyond Prithviraj and Parvathy, the film features Dileep, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Hakkim Shahjahan, Ashokan, Vijayaraghavan, Madhupal, Vinay Forrt, Lukman Avaran, and Ganapathi in key roles.

The screenplay is written by Sameer Abdul. Cinematography is handled by Dinesh Purushothaman, with editing by Ramees MB. Music is composed by Harshavardhan Rameshwar, known for his intense work on Animal — a choice that signals the film’s tonal ambitions clearly.

The film is jointly produced by Prithviraj Productions and E4 Entertainments, with the Telugu release handled by Sri Sravanti Movies and Mythri Movie Distributors.

I, Nobody releases in Malayalam cinemas worldwide on July 9, 2026, with the Telugu version following on July 10.
