Avatar 3 Roars at the Box Office: 200 Cr in India, 8400 Cr Worldwide in Just 15 Days

Avatar 3 Roars at the Box Office: 200 Cr in India, 8400 Cr Worldwide in Just 15 Days

James Cameron has once again done what he is best known for. At a time when ‘Dhurandhar’ is dominating the Indian box office and films like ‘Ikkis’ and ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’ are collapsing soon after release, ‘Avatar 3’ has managed to collect ₹200 crore gross in India within just 15 days. Avatar: Fire and Ash has emerged as a major Hollywood success story in the Indian market.

Globally, the film’s performance is beyond imagination. In just 15 days, the third film of the Avatar franchise has already collected ₹8,400 crore worldwide (gross). Yes, this is 619% higher than Dhurandhar’s worldwide collection of ₹1,167.25 crore achieved in 29 days.

‘Avatar 3’ enters the ₹200 crore club in India

Avatar 3 has now become the first Hollywood film of 2025 and the sixth Hollywood film overall to enter the ₹200 crore gross club in India. Interestingly, the previous film in the franchise, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, had also performed exceptionally well, collecting nearly ₹500 crore gross in India in 2022.

‘Avatar 3’ box office collection and budget

Avatar: Fire and Ash has been made on a massive budget of $400+ million, which is roughly ₹3,600 crore. The film continues to perform strongly in India in both regular and premium IMAX formats. It enjoys a solid fan following, especially in metro cities. Even on its 15th day, the film earned ₹2.85 crore net in India. With this, its total net collection in India stands at ₹163.05 crore.

Strong hold at the Indian box office

One of the most impressive aspects of Avatar 3 is that despite the dominance of Dhurandhar, it has continued to earn crores even on weekdays. Released in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film collected ₹109.50 crore net in its first week, followed by ₹50.70 crore net in its second week in India.

‘Dhurandhar’ crosses ₹747 crore in India, ‘Ikkis’ suffers early setback

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ continues to rule Indian cinemas. On its 29th day, the film earned ₹8.75 crore, marking the first time its daily collection fell below ₹10 crore. The film has now crossed ₹747.75 crore in total domestic business.

On the other hand, ‘Ikkis’, starring Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda, opened at ₹7.00 crore on Thursday, January 1, but suffered a sharp drop on its second day, collecting only ₹3.50 crore.

‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’ box office performance

The worst performer at the box office right now is Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday’s ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, this romantic comedy has managed to collect just ₹30.65 crore net in 9 days. On its second Friday, the film earned a mere ₹50 lakh. With a budget of ₹90 crore, the film has been rejected by audiences and has also received a poor response from critics. Given this scenario, expecting a strong turnaround at the box office seems unrealistic.
