The first weekend is always the most crucial for any film. The more it earns in those initial days, the better its future at the box office looks. Released five days ago, Rishab Shetty’s “Kantara: Chapter 1” enjoyed a fantastic four-day run, especially in India, where it raked in massive collections each day, setting new milestones. The film has already grossed ₹300 crore worldwide against a modest budget of ₹125 crore. However, crossing the budget mark isn’t enough — the real test began on weekdays, and the film faced its first big drop on Monday. Interestingly, “Kantara: Chapter 1” is getting a stronger response from North India than from the South — a rare achievement for a South Indian film. However, to reach a big lifetime total, it must maintain its hold during weekdays, which are usually weaker as audiences get busy with work. Reports suggest that Rishab Shetty’s film has already faced a loss of around ₹30 crore due to the weekday drop.
Kantara Chapter 1 Day 5 Collection
According to a report by Sacnilk, “Kantara: Chapter 1” earned ₹31.25 crore in India on its fifth day — a sharp fall compared to Sunday’s ₹63 crore. The Hindi version also witnessed a noticeable dip, which could be a concern for the makers. Still, if the film manages to earn even ₹20 crore per day during weekdays, its second weekend might bring another surge in collections. With this, the film’s total collection in India has reached ₹256 crore.

On Day 5, the film collected ₹11.5 crore from the Kannada version, ₹5.5 crore from Telugu, ₹8.75 crore from Hindi, ₹2.7 crore from Tamil, and ₹2.75 crore from Malayalam. Despite the dip, “Kantara: Chapter 1” achieved yet another milestone — crossing the ₹250 crore mark in just five days, after surpassing ₹200 crore in the first four days.

In just five days, Rishab Shetty’s film entered a new club every day —
- Day 1: ₹50 crore
- Day 2: ₹100 crore
- Day 3: ₹150 crore
- Day 4: ₹200 crore
- Day 5: ₹250 crore
These are only the domestic figures. “Kantara: Chapter 1” has now become the highest-grossing Kannada film of the year and has outperformed several big Bollywood releases. It also became only the fourth Kannada movie ever to cross the ₹150 crore mark.
