The star-studded film Housefull 5, featuring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, hit theatres on June 6. The film had a strong opening at the box office and continued its impressive run on the second day as well. Meanwhile, other films like Thug Life, Bhool Chuk Maaf, and Mission Impossible 8 are also running in cinemas. Here’s a look at how these films performed during the Eid holiday weekend:
Housefull 5
The second day of Housefull 5‘s release coincided with the festival of Eid and a Saturday, which gave a major boost to its earnings. The film earned ₹24 crore on its opening day and ₹30 crore on the second day, bringing its two-day total to ₹54 crore. According to reports, the film’s total budget is around ₹240 crore. Given the numbers, Housefull 5 has made a strong start at the box office.
Thug Life
The film Thug Life, starring South superstar Kamal Haasan and directed by Mani Ratnam, released on June 5. The movie did not open very strongly. Made with an estimated budget of ₹180 crore, it earned ₹15 crore on its opening day. However, it witnessed a significant drop in collections on the second day, earning only ₹7.15 crore. On the third day (Saturday), it collected ₹7.50 crore, showing little improvement.
Bhool Chuk Maaf
Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has had a steady run at the box office. Though its collections dipped in the past week, the film picked up again over the weekend. It had earned ₹7 crore on its opening day, and on its 16th day, it brought in ₹1 crore. So far, the film has earned a total of ₹68.07 crore.
