Delhi-Kalka Namo Bharat Train: Metro-Like Facilities, Reasonable Fare, Will Reach Kalka from Delhi in Just 4 Hours

Category-

The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, designed to provide world-class rail service between nearby cities, is already operational on routes like Ahmedabad–Bhuj in Gujarat and Jaynagar–Patna in Bihar. Now, Indian Railways is preparing to expand this premium service to several new routes, including the New Delhi–Kalka corridor.

Similar to the Vande Bharat Express, the Namo Bharat trains are equipped with several advanced features. On the New Delhi–Kalka route, passengers can expect metro-style amenities along with a significant reduction in travel time compared to regular trains. Covering a distance of 303 kilometres, the Namo Bharat train will complete the journey in just 4 hours. This will also reduce the travel time from Delhi to Shimla, as connecting trains to Shimla are available from Kalka.

Although Indian Railways has not officially announced the launch date for the New Delhi–Kalka Namo Bharat service, a report by ET Now suggests that the train may begin operations soon. Likely stops along the route include Panipat Junction, Karnal, Kurukshetra Junction, Ambala Cantt Junction, Chandigarh, and Chandi Mandir.

Tentative Timetable:

The train is expected to depart from New Delhi at 6:00 AM and reach Kalka by 10:00 AM. For the return journey, it will likely depart Kalka at 5:00 PM and arrive in New Delhi by 9:00 PM.

Fare Details:

The Delhi–Kalka Namo Bharat train will have 16 fully air-conditioned coaches, all in the unreserved category. On the Jaynagar–Patna route (283 km), the fare is ₹340. Based on this, the fare for the 303 km Delhi–Kalka route could be around ₹400.
