Kesari Chapter 2 Review: A Courtroom Battle That Shook an Empire

Category-

Kesari Chapter 2 is a powerful and emotional film that takes us back to one of the most painful moments in Indian history—the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. This historical courtroom drama, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, is a spiritual sequel to Kesari (2019) and is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.

The film tells the true story of Justice C. Sankaran Nair, played strongly by Akshay Kumar. He was a brave Indian lawyer who spoke out against the British after the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. R. Madhavan plays Adv. Neville McKinley, and Ananya Panday plays Dilreet Gill. Together, they help bring out the emotions and tension in the courtroom scenes.

What makes this film special is how it focuses not just on the tragedy, but also on the powerful legal fight that followed. It shows how Sankaran Nair stood up to the British in their own court, in London. The scenes are well acted, especially the courtroom drama, where the truth about the massacre is revealed to the world.

The film also highlights the arrogance of British officers like Michael O’Dwyer and General Dyer. The actor Simon Paisley Day, who plays Dyer, does a very convincing job. Regina Cassandra, who plays Nair’s wife, gives a heartfelt performance.

The story moves at a steady pace and is filled with moments that touch the heart. The direction and cinematography are beautiful and serious, fitting the film’s tone. The music is emotional but not too loud, allowing the powerful dialogues and performances to shine.

Overall, Kesari Chapter 2 is not just a film—it is a reminder of the sacrifices made for India’s freedom. It tells an important story that many people may not know about. This film will make you think, feel, and respect those who fought for justice.
