S Shankar’s much-anticipated Telugu debut Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, has had a remarkable start at the global box office. According to official reports from the film’s team, the action-packed political drama grossed over ₹150 crore worldwide on its first day.
The film’s official X (formerly Twitter) account announced the opening day figures on Saturday, stating, “The king’s arrival is setting the box office ablaze! #GameChanger takes a blockbuster opening at the BOX OFFICE. GROSSES 186 CRORES WORLDWIDE on Day 1.”
In India, the film earned ₹51.25 crore across five languages—Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam—on its opening day. Globally, it achieved ₹186 crore, tripling its domestic earnings. The film revolves around the journey of an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, portrayed by Ram Charan, who challenges corruption and fights for transparent elections. Directed by Shankar and backed by Sri Venkateswara Creations, the movie also features SJ Suryah, Jayaram, and Vennela Kishore in pivotal roles.
While Game Changer surpassed the opening day collection of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which earned ₹133 crore worldwide on its debut, it fell short of the recent Telugu sensation Pushpa 2: The Rule. Sukumar’s action thriller, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, shattered records with ₹294 crore in worldwide earnings on its first day, over ₹100 crore more than Game Changer.

Released last month, Pushpa 2 has already crossed ₹1,800 crore globally and remains a significant benchmark for Telugu cinema. The sequel to 2018’s Pushpa: The Rise, which won Allu Arjun a National Award for Best Actor, has cemented the franchise’s dominance. The series is set to continue with Pushpa 3: The Rampage, as announced by its producers, Mythri Movie Makers.
