Booking Tickets for Others With Personal ID is a Crime

Booking tickets for others with your personal ID can be risky. According to Section 143 of the Railway Act, only an officially appointed person can book train tickets for others using their ID. Normal individuals can book tickets with their personal ID only for their blood relations or people with the same surname. If you book a ticket for a friend or someone else, you could face a fine of 10,000 rupees or 3 years in jail. In many cases, you might receive both punishments.

    Time to Book Tickets

If you want to book a Tatkal AC ticket, it starts at 10 AM. Non-AC ticket booking starts at 11 AM. A user ID on the IRCTC website can book up to 24 tickets per month. However, you can only book tickets if your user ID is linked to your Aadhaar card. If your user ID is not linked to Aadhaar, you can only book 12 tickets per month.

    What is the Rule?

According to the rules, any individual can book 12 tickets with one ID. But note that this reservation is only for yourself and your family members. Booking tickets for others using your ID is considered an offense.
