Dhruva Natchathiram: Chapter One – Yuddha Kaandam is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language action spy movie directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, starring Vikram in the lead role. The film’s music is composed by Harris Jayaraj, and the cinematography is handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, Jomon T. John, Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran, with editing by Praveen Antony.
The project was initially announced in 2013 with Suriya as the lead, but it was later put on hold due to creative differences between Menon and the actor. In 2015, there were hints of a possible revival, and Menon explored various casting options before finalizing Vikram for the role. Production of the film began in 2016 and involved shooting in seven different countries. However, the movie faced significant delays due to financial constraints but finally wrapped up production in February 2023. Dhruva Natchathiram is set to hit the theaters on November 24, 2023.

Production of the film initially began in January 2017, with Vikram and Anu Emmanuel confirmed as the cast members. However, in early February 2017, Anu Emmanuel had to withdraw from the project due to scheduling conflicts arising from Vikram’s decision to adjust his schedule for simultaneous shooting of “Sketch” (2018). Subsequently, Ritu Varma was brought in to replace her, with Menon being impressed by her performance in the Telugu film “Pelli Choopulu” (2016). Aishwarya Rajesh was also signed to play another significant female character in the film. Additionally, the team re-enlisted Parthiban for a role, with some modifications to his character from the original script.
In March 2017, Jomon had to leave the film due to scheduling issues, and Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran stepped in as the new cinematographer. However, Santhana Krishnan also had to step down in June 2017, and Manoj Paramahamsa, who had previously worked with Menon on “Nadunisi Naaygal” (2011), took over as the cinematographer. During the same month, several supporting actors were added to the cast, including veteran actresses Radhika Sarathkumar and Simran. Newcomers Dhivyadharshini, Shravanthi Sainath, and Maya S. Krishnan also joined the ensemble. Additionally, three of Menon’s former proteges, namely Vamsi Krishna, Salim Baig, and Sathish Krishnan, as well as Munna Simon, were selected for roles in the film.
In mid-April 2018, it was revealed that Malayalam actor Vinayakan would be part of the film’s cast, playing the lead antagonist.
