7 Best Health Benefits of Ghee

Ghee has long been an essential part of Indian cooking and traditional diets. Its rich aroma and flavour make it a popular ingredient in everyday meals, whether it’s added to hot rotis, rice, dals, or sweets. Beyond enhancing taste, ghee is also valued for its nutritional qualities and the many health benefits it offers.

Ghee is made by slowly heating butter until the milk solids separate from the pure fat. Once the solids are removed, the remaining golden liquid becomes clarified butter, commonly known as desi ghee. This traditional preparation method not only gives ghee its distinct flavour but also makes it easier to digest than regular butter.

For a long time, people believed that eating ghee could lead to weight gain. However, health experts now suggest that consuming ghee in moderation may support digestion, provide natural energy, and contribute to overall wellness. Because of its healthy fats and nutrients, ghee continues to hold an important place in both Ayurveda and modern nutrition.

Making ‘gajar ka halwa, moong dal halwa, and panjeeri laddoo’ without ghee is impossible if you are a good chef. Although, it is beneficial if you are consuming ghee in winters as it keeps you warm and helps you in surviving winters.

    Decreases Glycemic Index

In India, if you are visiting your relatives and you are served chapatis without ghee applied to it, then you must be joking because this cannot be possible that you were served chapatis or parathas without ghee spread on it. Open up clogged nose

A blocked nose can be uncomfortable and irritating, especially during a cold. According to Ayurveda, a simple remedy known as Nyasa treatment may help relieve nasal congestion. In this method, a few drops of pure cow ghee are gently placed in the nostrils early in the morning. This is definitely one of the major health benefits of ghee.

This traditional practice is believed to help open blocked nasal passages and may also soothe the throat as the ghee slowly passes through the nasal tract. Make sure the ghee is slightly lukewarm before using it.

Good source of energy and improves flexibility

Ghee provides a lot of energy as it has a high content of medium-chain fatty acids because they are absorbed into the liver and will burn to produce energy. It reaches every joint of the body which helps in lubricating them which leads to increase flexibility.
