Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira Movie Review: Fahadh Faasil Delivers Another Winner

    Rating: 4/5 Stars

Malayalam cinema continues to surprise us, and “Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira” is proof of that. This 2025 romantic comedy, written and directed by Althaf Salim, brings together Fahadh Faasil and Kalyani Priyadarshan in a story that feels both heartwarming and genuine.

A Story That Touches Your Heart

The film follows Aby, who gets jilted at his wedding but then encounters a reserved woman needing help. As they heal together, his ex returns with newfound insight into his dreams. A hidden truth leads Aby to find peace.

What sounds like a simple premise becomes something much deeper. The movie doesn’t rush into romance or comedy. Instead, it takes time to build real connections between characters. You actually care about what happens to them.

    Fahadh Faasil Shows His Range

Fahadh Faasil proves once again why he’s considered one of Malayalam cinema’s finest actors. His portrayal of Aby feels natural and relatable. He doesn’t overdo the emotions or comedy. Every expression feels real, making you forget you’re watching a movie.

Kalyani Priyadarshan brings charm to her role, and the supporting cast featuring Revathi Pillai, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Lal, and Vinay Forrt adds depth to the story. Each character serves a purpose rather than just filling screen time.

    What Makes It Special

The title “Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira” (Horse running, horse jumping) might sound puzzling at first, but it makes perfect sense once you watch the film. The metaphor connects beautifully with the story’s themes of moving forward and taking leaps of faith.

Director Althaf Salim promises “a delightful mix of humor, romance, and quirky drama,” and he delivers exactly that. The humor doesn’t feel forced, and the romantic moments have genuine warmth.

The movie handles the topic of failed relationships with sensitivity. Instead of making it all about blame and anger, it shows how people can heal and grow from difficult experiences.

    Technical Brilliance

Justin Varghese’s music composition fits perfectly with the film’s mood. The songs don’t interrupt the story flow, and the background score enhances emotional moments without being too obvious about it.

The cinematography captures everyday Kerala beautifully. It’s not trying to be a tourism advertisement, but the natural beauty still shines through in every frame.

    Minor Shortcomings

The pacing could have been slightly better in the middle portions. Some scenes feel a bit stretched, though they never become boring.

The film sometimes gets too subtle for its own good. A few more clear emotional beats could have made certain moments hit harder.

    Why It Works

“Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira” opened on August 29, 2025, with early audience reactions emerging online, and most viewers seem to appreciate its honest storytelling approach.

The movie succeeds because it treats its characters like real people dealing with real problems. There’s no unnecessary drama or over-the-top situations. Everything feels possible and relatable.

    Final Verdict

“Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira” is the kind of film that reminds you why you fell in love with movies in the first place. It’s simple yet profound, funny yet touching, and completely satisfying.

Produced by Ashiq Usman under Ashiq Usman Productions, this film proves that good storytelling doesn’t need big budgets or flashy elements.

Perfect for: Anyone who enjoys character-driven stories, Fahadh Faasil fans, and viewers looking for intelligent entertainment that respects their time and emotions.
