WhatsApp to Start International UPI Payments- Know All About the New Feature

WhatsApp is continuously making new changes and adding interesting new features to the app. The messaging platform has already made the UPI payments within India available, and now it seems that WhatsApp is ready to take the initiative a notch higher. International payments via UPI on WhatsApp will make the app a significant payment player, similar to Google Pay, PhonePe, or PayTM in India.

WhatsApp has yet to confirm anything about the update or the new feature. As of now, it is just a rumour backed by an X user’s leaks. The tipster @assembledebug on Twitter shared the screenshots of the supposed upcoming feature.

WhatsApp to Start International UPI Payments- Know All About the New Feature

He claimed that WhatsApp is currently working on the feature and will make it available to Indian customers soon. The feature is going to allow Indian users to make international payments through UPI. However, one can only make international payments after enabling the said option in the banking app or web mobile banking.

Usually, commercial banks in India do not enable this feature from the start, and you have to put in a request or simply enable it through your mobile banking to start enjoying the benefit.

How to Make UPI Payments Through WhatsApp?

  • Open the WhatsApp app on your phone
  • Click on the three dots at the top of your screen
  • Now, go to the payments section
  • Choose your bank account and enable the UPI option
  • Once you have made your UPI ID on WhatsApp
  • Go the chat of the person you want to send the money
  • Click on their profile, and there you will see the option of making a UPI payment
  • Simply put the amount you wanna send and enter your UPI Pin to make the payment.
