What is a Blue Aadhaar Card? Where is It Used, and Who can Apply for It? Learn All the Details

The Aadhaar card, which features a unique 12-digit number, has become one of the most essential documents in the country. It is widely used everywhere, and in many cases, the absence of this card can halt various processes. Issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the card contains important information such as name, address, and caste. Currently, Aadhaar cards are issued in two categories: one for individuals and another for children under the age of five.

What is the Blue Aadhaar Card?

The Aadhaar card for children is referred to as “Bal Aadhaar” or Blue Aadhaar. Many schools request the Aadhaar number during the admission process to verify the child’s age. The Blue Aadhaar card, issued for children under five, also contains a unique 12-digit number. As of now, biometric data such as fingerprints and iris scans have not been developed for children, meaning that this information is not included in the child’s Aadhaar data. However, it must be updated once the child turns five.

Documents Required to Obtain a Blue Aadhaar

    1. Child’s birth certificate or discharge slip from a government hospital.
    2. A photocopy of one parent’s Aadhaar card.

It is important to note that for biometric authentication, parents must visit an Aadhaar service center with the child under five years of age.
