As the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) gears up for the Class X and XII Board Exams scheduled from January 1, 2024, to February 15, 2024, it recognizes the significance of addressing exam-related anxiety among students. To assist students and parents in navigating the stress associated with exams, CBSE has launched its annual psychological counselling program, commencing on January 1, 2024. The programme is structured in two phases, offering support both before the examinations and after the results are announced.

Understanding the Exam Schedule

The Class X and XII Board Exam schedule for practical and theory papers spans from January 1, 2024, to February 15, 2024. In response to the pressure these exams can bring, CBSE is providing a comprehensive psychological support system.

   

Two-Phase Counselling Program

The counselling program is divided into two crucial phases: one before the examination period and the other following the announcement of results. This structured approach ensures continuous support throughout the entire examination process.

Tools and Resources for Stress Management

1. IVRS (Interactive Voice Response) on Toll-Free Number

A 24×7 toll-free number, 1800 11 8004, is dedicated to providing students and parents with immediate access to psychological support. Available in Hindi and English, this service offers guidance on stress-free exam preparation, time management tips, and answers to frequently asked questions.

2. Bilingual Podcasts

CBSE has introduced bilingual podcasts available on the official website (www.cbse.gov.in) to offer valuable insights and guidance on stress-free exam preparation. These podcasts serve as an additional resource for students and parents seeking advice during the examination period.

3. Tele-Counselling

A voluntary and free-of-cost service, tele-counselling is available from 09:30 AM to 05:30 PM, Monday to Saturday. Trained counsellors and principals from CBSE-affiliated schools provide this service to address the specific needs and concerns of students and parents.

4. Audio-Visual Presentation on Official Website

CBSE has prepared an audio-visual presentation titled ‘Knowing Children Better.’ This presentation delves into real-time experiences and problems faced by adolescents, offering coping strategies. It is available on the CBSE website, providing an additional resource for mental well-being.

5. Question-Answer Columns

CBSE experts will address students’ queries through weekly question-answer columns published in major national newspapers throughout February. This platform offers students the opportunity to seek clarification on any doubts or concerns they may have regarding the upcoming examinations.

This year marks the 26th edition of CBSE’s psychological counselling program. Since its inception in 1998, CBSE has consistently provided free psychological counselling to support students during the challenging examination period.
