Saudi Arabia Bans Visas for 14 Countries- Why is India on the List?

Saudi Arabia Bans Visas for 14 Countries- Why is India on the List?

Saudi Arabia, considered the heartland of Islam, has imposed a temporary visa ban on a total of 14 countries, including India and Pakistan. This ban applies to business, family, and Umrah visas.

The Saudi government, led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has enforced this temporary restriction to prevent unregistered foreign pilgrims from participating in the Hajj. However, this ban is only in effect until mid-June, when this year’s Hajj ends. After that, the visa program will resume as usual.

Umrah Visa Available Until April 13

Saudi officials stated that foreigners can apply for Umrah visas only until April 13. After that date, Umrah visas will be suspended.

Why Did the Crown Prince Take This Step?

The decision is based on last year’s tragic incident, where over 1,000 people died in a stampede during Hajj. Most of the victims were unregistered pilgrims. To avoid such chaos this year, the Saudi government has temporarily halted visa issuance to restrict unauthorized Hajj participants.

Which Countries Are Affected by the Visa Ban?

Saudi Arabia has made changes to visa policies for 14 countries to maintain better management during Hajj. These countries include: India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Nigeria, Iraq, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, and Yemen.

According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, this temporary ban aims to simplify travel regulations, enhance pilgrim safety, and ensure a smoother Hajj experience.
