Namo Bharat Corridor: Travel Between Delhi and Meerut in Just 40 Minutes — Fares, Stations, Facilities, and More Details

Commuting from Delhi to Meerut via Ghaziabad in under an hour is no longer a dream. Starting Sunday evening, the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), popularly known as Namo Bharat trains, will be operational for the public, running at a frequency of every 15 minutes.

The fare structure has been announced, with prices starting at Rs 150 for a standard coach and Rs 225 for a premium coach for a journey from New Ashok Nagar Station in Delhi to Meerut South. The minimum fare in a standard coach begins at Rs 20 and goes up to Rs 150, while premium coach fares range between Rs 30 and Rs 225 for a single trip.

Previously, the RRTS service, launched in 2023, was only available between Meerut and Ghaziabad, covering a 42-kilometre stretch with nine stations. However, the network is now expanding. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate an additional 13-kilometre section between Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, enhancing regional connectivity and bringing high-speed transit services to Delhi.

This expansion will extend the operational length of the Namo Bharat Corridor to 55 kilometres with 11 stations. Highlighting the importance of this project, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi revealed that the city has contributed Rs 1,260 crore towards its development. She stated that these advancements will not only reduce travel time but also boost regional economic growth.

Following the inauguration, passenger services will begin at 5 PM on January 5. With a frequency of 15 minutes, the Namo Bharat trains will now provide seamless connectivity between Delhi and Meerut, reducing travel time by two-thirds. Passengers can journey from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South in just under 40 minutes, according to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).
