Delhi Metro: DMRC's New Plans to Control Increasing Crowds, Know the Details

Delhi Metro, considered the lifeline of the capital, has been witnessing a significant increase in passenger numbers. To manage this growing crowd, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has started working on several plans. As the metro network expands in the capital, the number of daily commuters has also increased. According to DMRC officials, this number is continuously rising, and to address this issue, multiple new measures have been implemented.

    Steps Taken by DMRC

DMRC officials have analyzed the traffic pattern and reconstructed major stations such as Chandni Chowk, Gurgaon, New Delhi, Kashmere Gate, and Shahdara. Various improvements have been made to facilitate passenger movement at these stations. These measures include increasing the number of escalators, lifts, and travelators, along with an automated fare collection system. Additionally, the passenger information system at stations has been upgraded to provide better guidance to commuters.

Digital Improvements and Better Train Operations

DMRC has increased the capacity of metro trains and optimized the schedule to ensure maximum trains operate during peak hours. The main goal is to enhance passenger capacity and control overcrowding during busy times. If excessive congestion occurs at any particular station or section, DMRC promptly deploys additional trains or shortens train intervals. This smart and effective management system helps regulate crowd flow even under changing conditions.

    Real-Time Monitoring

DMRC has activated its real-time monitoring system to coordinate train movement and passenger flow. In case of congestion, metro officials respond immediately by introducing additional trains during peak hours. Moreover, other measures such as adjusting barricades, speeding up ticket sales, and modifying AFC (Automatic Fare Collection) gate modes are also implemented to manage crowds efficiently.

    Security and Crowd Management Measures

To maintain security and manage crowds, CISF personnel take extra precautions during security checks. If overcrowding occurs, metro station entry gates may be temporarily closed. Public announcements are also made to keep passengers informed. By adopting various technical and management strategies, Delhi Metro aims to make commuting more convenient and safe for its passengers.
