The Hill Plot
In a humble Texas town, Rickey Hill grows up in poverty, but his exceptional talent for baseball shines through, despite the leg braces he wears due to a degenerative spinal disease. However, his stern father, a pastor portrayed by Dennis Quaid, discourages Rickey from pursuing baseball to shield him from harm and steer him towards a path of becoming a preacher. As Rickey matures into a young man, portrayed by Colin Ford, his baseball prowess becomes legendary. Yet, his aspiration to attend a try-out for a renowned major league scout creates a rift within his family and jeopardizes his lifelong dream of playing professional baseball.
