Panchayat Season 2 just dropped on Amazon Prime Video. The show has already made waves with its exciting and captivating storyline, with subtle hints of social orthodoxy, conventions, drama and politics. It combines all of these to surprisingly deliver a heartfelt comedy.

The show builds on its premises of the first season and takes the story of Abhishek (Jitendra Kumar) forward as he continues to navigate the circumstances in Phulera village’s Panchayat. In prominent roles, the series stars Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Chandan Roy, Faisal Malik, and Sanvikaa.

Panchayat Season 2

Panchayat season 2 employs the tried and tested technique of representing Abhishek as an ordinary man who can’t ride up to become a larger-than-life hero. His character resonates with the audience due to his realistic portrayal. Jitendra Kumar is flawlessly moving towards a bigger stage in his career.

By the last episode of the first season, Abhishek has sorted out his equation with Manju Devi (Neena Gupta), the head of the Panchayat and her husband, Brij Bhushan (Raghubir Yadav). He actually controls the action from behind the scenes. Abhishek and Rinky, the daughter of Brij Bhushan, were expected to get their love phenomenon going this season.

Panchayat season 2 maintains satire, mild comedy, sharp remarks, quick-witted responses, and a hard-working and stellar cast that does not let the mantle drop at any stage. The nuanced performances of the cast remove the foggy sense of being served an insignificant story with shallow characters.

Panchayat Season 2

The series maintains its idea of treating minor issues as larger than life problems in the town of Phulera. The second season deals with issues such as the arrival of CCTV technology in the village and its unpredicted consequence on the people. On another front, the price for the excess mud after a road construction work also takes centre stage.

Similar to season 1, the comedic genius is quite visible in the second season, with a man being showcased as the publicist for the de-addiction campaign turning out to be a drunk himself. These sorts of scenes steal the story with unexpected turns of events.

The Panchayat head Manju Devi and her husband Brij Bhushan are on the radar of Bhushan (Durgesh Kumar) and his spouse Kranti (Sunita Rajwar). The duo is working behind the scene to get rid of Manju Devi from the governing council of Panchayat in Phulera.

Our hero Abhishek is in fear of turning into a complacent officer. He is reminded by the guest characters why he chose to be a member of Panchayat. The show is a must-watch for its unique take on rural India.
