Ashok Chavan, Ex Chief Minister of Maharashtra tested positive for Coronavirus

Latest Coronavirus Updates- Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and ex Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has tested positive for Covid-19 in Mumbai. Senior Congress leader Ashok Chavan is the currently the head of  Public Works Department of Maharashtra.



He is currently the second Minister in the Maharashtra Government to be tested positive for coronavirus. Earlier Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad was infected by coronavirus. He recovered after being admitted in Mulund Hospital for more than 2 weeks.

   

The minister had been travelling between Mumbai and his home town in Marathwada frequently, PTI sources said.

“He contracted the infection a few days back and is now undergoing treatment,” an official added. Ashok Chavan is currently admitted at a hospital in Nanded. His condition is good, sources said, adding that he was reportedly under home quarantine for the last few days.



Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 cases as on 24th May 11:43pm in Maharashtra crossed the 50,000-mark. The exact numbers of cases in Maharashtra till Sunday was 50231. Sunday recorded the highest number of cases in a single day with tally of 3041. The overall death toll in the state has gone up by 58, with total upto to 1,635.

The number of the Covid-19 cases in India now stands at 1,38,536 out of this 57692 have been recovered from this severe disease. Deaths total went upto 4024.
